Our 100% Pure Organic Darjeeling Teas have a light-to-medium body with a delicate, yet assertive unique floral aroma. Loose leaf. Available in black, green, and oolong varieties.
Organic Darjeeling tea grows at the foothills of the Himalayas in the city of Darjeeling in West Bengal, India. Like Champagne which canât be labeled âChampagneâ unless the grapes come from the Champagne region of France, Darjeeling canât be labeled âDarjeelingâ if the tea doesnât come from the area. For this reason, itâs often referred to as âChampagne of Teasâ.
Although actually a Chinese plant, Indian Darjeeling tea is best suited for growing in higher elevations (up to 4,000 feet above sea level) where the soil is slightly more acidic and weather conditions are ideal for growing excellent tea. Darjeeling can be grown as black, green, or white teas.Â
Darjeeling Black Tea is almost always less oxidized and less astringent than typical varieties of black tea. Its flavor is gentle and lighter, yet deeper and more complex than green tea varieties. It can be enjoyed on its own as well as alongside rich, oily foods, tea cakes, and desserts. Consume in the morning or early-afternoon, as it contains a small amount of caffeine.
Our Darjeeling Green Tea is made from the same leaves as Black Darjeeling, but with higher antioxidant properties and a lighter more delicate, vegetal flavor. It can be enjoyed on its own, as well as alongside light desserts, fish, rice, and cheeses. Consume in the morning or early-afternoon, as it contains a small amount of caffeine.
In fact, Darjeelingâs exceptional flavor is due to the melding of the Chinese tea plant into the natural environment of Darjeeling, India. Its flavor can change depending on when the plant is harvested, the soil and weather and other natural environmental conditions. Regardless, youâll find this organic Darjeeling tea truly exceptional. It is peacefully delicious, calming and soothing.
Brewing instructions:
Use filtered water for the best taste and quality of tea. Use one teaspoon tea per 8 oz of water, as needed. Pour boiling water over tea and steep for at least 4 minutes. Strain leaves, if desired, before serving. Enjoy as is, or with lemon, honey, milk or cream - whatever delights you.
Store dry tea in our Indian Clay Jar to keep naturally dehumidified and block damaging UV rays.

My family has been making ghee since 1889. Today, my wife, Nalini (aka "The Ghee Lady"), carries on this tradition. She still makes all the ghee and tightens every jar by hand.
We are passionate about bringing you traditional and nourishing foods. It's our labor of love and service to human-kind. Thank you for supporting our small family business.
