Long before Rome had roads, before Egypt had pyramids fully risen from the sand, someone in the ancient Near East cracked open a small, round seed and discovered something worth remembering. That citrusy, nutty, warm seed became known as coriander. And it never really left the human table since.

This is a spice with a resume most ingredients can't touch. It rode trade routes through Mediterranean ports and central Asian caravans. It seasoned the meals of pharaohs and the street food of Roman citizens. It traveled so far, for so long, that historians can't even pin down exactly where it started; coriander grew wild across such a vast stretch of Europe and the Near East that the plant simply belongs to all of it.

Seven thousand years later, it's still doing exactly what it always did: making food taste like more of itself.

One Seed, Two Personalities

Whole or ground, coriander seed isn't one flavor. Each preparation contributes to a dish differently.

Toast whole coriander seeds in a dry pan and something happens: the citrus notes sharpen, the nuttiness deepens, and the kitchen fills with an aroma that's impossible to rush past. Crush them coarse and scatter them into a pickle brine, a crusty loaf, a simmering stew, and you get little bursts of warmth and crunch.

But use it ground, and coriander becomes something else entirely: a foundational note. It's the seed that quietly holds garam masala together, the backbone of countless curry powders, the reason a good sausage tastes complete. Ground coriander doesn't shout. It rounds out every other flavor in the pot, working in near silence to make the whole dish make sense.

In Indian kitchens, coriander rarely travels alone. It's paired, almost ritually, with cumin. Together they form one of the oldest flavor partnerships in the world, still built into curries and dals today exactly as it was centuries ago.

We pay these farmers premium market price for their harvests, not commodity rates. In an industry where farmers are too often invisible, we've built things the other way around: partnership first, product second.

And the farming itself doesn't stop at "do no harm." It's regenerative — meaning every harvest should leave the soil richer, the biodiversity fuller, the water better conserved, the carbon more deeply held in the ground than it was before. It's agriculture that gives back more than it takes, season after season.

No Shortcuts in the Jar, Either

We don't add anti-caking agents to keep our ground coriander flowing freely. That means you might see a lump or two form naturally over time. That's not a defect; it's proof there's nothing in here but coriander. Light brown, spherical, whole or ground exactly as coriander seed should be.

From Ancient Trade Routes to Your Spice Rack

Coriander crossed continents before continents were mapped. It flavored tonics meant to mask bitterness, gave beer and liquor their edge, even found its way into Chinese kitchens as a cooked root vegetable. It has been, across thousands of years and dozens of cultures, endlessly useful.

Culinary uses: The flavor and aroma of whole coriander seeds are heightened through dry-roasting, and the roasted seed can be eaten as a snack. The seed is a component of the warming spice blend, garam masala, and curry powders. Ground coriander seasoning is used in sausage-making, in breads, stews and soups, pickled vegetables, and condiments. In Indian cooking, organic coriander is most often paired with cumin. 

Other uses: It has been used to mask unpleasant flavors in herbal tonics, as well as used to flavor alcoholic liquors and beer. In China, the root of the Coriander plant was cooked as a vegetable.

If you receive the order and you are not satisfied with it, you can return the merchandise in original packaging within 14 days along with the receipt. Once we receive your package, we will refund the amount charged of the items returned. Unfortunately, we cannot refund the shipping costs, unless the product is damaged or defective.

If you refuse the order or if the carrier was not able to deliver it, we will give full refund less the shipping charges.

If the shipping address that you supply is found to be incomplete or incorrect then you are responsible for the additional charges imposed by the shipping company for correcting the address.

RETURNED TO SENDER / UNDELIVERABLE

If we send you a shipment and it gets returned back to us as it was undeliverable to the address provided, we will refund the amount you had paid for the products only. Unfortunately, we cannot refund the shipping cost. We offer the option to reship the same order to an alternative address for an additional shipping fee.
