On one of Sandeep's sourcing trips in India, he went on a hunt for Organic Ghost Pepper. "There's no organic ghost pepper in America!" he said. "Can you believe it? I have to find some!" So off he went into the heart of India, so deep that we couldn't reach him via cell phone service or Internet. A few days later, he rejoins the grid and announces, "I've found them! I bought A LOT!" Since ghost pepper is one of the world's hottest chilis, a little goes really far!
In an attempt to figure out how we would use a lifetime supply of ghost pepper, Courtney said to Sandeep, "At home, I always add both chili and salt to whatever I'm eating for dinner. Why not just make a convenient 2-in-1 shaker?" Sandeep, incredulous, replied, "Is that an American thing? We don't do that in India." Courtney just shook her head and proceeded to convince Sandeep that KickSalt should be a thing! "Go for it!" he said.
Courtney then began the rigorous testing process to find the perfect ratio of salt and heat to season food where it's not too salty but also just the right amount of heat that your face won't melt and your gut won't kill you. A lot of water was gulped in the process! Finally, KickSalt was born! - The perfect ratio of Himalayan pink salt and ghost pepper.
